Local and Long Distance Moving Services
Whether you’re moving just a block over or to the other side of the country, Apple Moving has the crews, trucks, and know-how to make your move a success. We offer local and long distance moving services to make your moving experience easier! Read more about each of these below.
Local and Intrastate Moves
If you are moving to a different neighborhood or zip code in the same metropolitan area, this is considered a local move. The number of movers on your job will depend on the size of your move (i.e. how many bedrooms you have). Most moving jobs require anywhere from two to four movers. Our crews are professionals, employed by Apple Moving, with years of experience under their belts. From packing glass and other breakables to loading the moving truck, we train all our staff to handle your belongings with care. Most local moves are priced by the hour; the rate depends on the number of movers needed to complete the job.
In additional to local moves, we also perform intrastate moves in Texas, Virginia, and Missouri. An intrastate move is any move that stays within state boundaries. So, if you’re moving from one side of Texas to another, it may feel like a long-distance move, but it’s still considered an interstate move. Why the distinction? Intrastate moves are regulated by the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles or equivalent agency, while interstate moves (those that cross state lines) are regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Fortunately, Apple Moving is licensed to perform both types of moves.
Interstate Moving Company
Apple Moving is licensed as a household goods carrier to perform interstate moving services. If your move takes you from California to Texas, from Virginia to New York, or from and to any other combination of states, our experienced team can get you there. The cost of interstate or long distance moving services depends on the shipping weight of your belongings and how far you are moving. When you contact us to discuss your move, our sales staff will ask you some questions about the size of your household and where you are moving to and from. Based on this information, we’ll give you a ballpark estimate of how much the move will cost. Then, we will coordinate with your schedule to send an in-home estimator to your home to take a survey of your belongings. Taking this inventory gives us a better idea of your load’s shipping weight which enables us to provide you with a more accurate moving quote. To minimize the cost of your cross country move, you can do the following:
- Purge unwanted or unused household items prior to moving
- Move during slower months when peak season rates do not apply
- Agree to a consolidated move in which multiple loads are moved simultaneously
While most local and intrastate moves are completed in a matter of hours, a long distance move may take 1-3 weeks depending on the destination and other stops the crew must make. To get an interstate moving quote, reach out to our team by form, phone, email, or chat. We are here to make your cross country moving experience easier!
